Silcarb is manufacturing a brand new electric tower furnace with a new age refractory castable as the metal contact material.
Typically most metal contact monolithic castable are non-insulating in nature(i.e dense refractories).
Silcarb is building this furnace with a metal contact castable which is both non-wetting and insulting in nature thereby reducing the energy consumption drastically.
The furnace has a zero brick construction(i.e the roof also is a complete cast monolithic) thereby avoiding all joints which is inherent in brick-lined roofs.
