Alpha Ultra Rods – Single Piece Element
The Alpha Ultra Rod Single Piece Element is, as the name suggests, a one-piece construction. One-piece elements have a joint free construction. The cold ends are formed by filling the pore structure with a low resistivity silicon alloy. This product eliminates, the weakest part of any Silicon Carbide Heating Elements, which is the joint.
Silcarb makes its heating elements from high purity alpha silicon carbide grains, that are extruded in the form of rods or tubes, before being bonded together by a process of recrystallization. The rods are manufactured in a way that they have strong uniform bonds between adjacent grains and the particles are optimally dense when packed. Silcarb ensures that the heating elements are resistant to the process atmosphere. The Heating Element is extremely mechanically stable and typically has higher densities than the 3-piece Alpha SiC rods. The Element Operating Temperature would be 1650o C. The resistivity of the hot zone material is considerably higher than that of the cold ends causing most of the heat to be generated in the hot zone. The cold ends, which pass through the furnace lining, remain relatively cool, are connected to the power supply with spring clamps and flat aluminum braids.These single piece heaters are similar to kanthal hotrod heaters or i squared r(i2r) or erema.
